A Playdate With Eva and Ece
Two sweet little girls, one Turkish and the other American, seven and four, play together in a world animated by imagination, where stuffed animals must be properly introduced and leashed (to ribbons), and then taught to obey, swing, and climb, skills the girls themselves are practicing. They can conjure snow to fall in South Florida on a warm day.. Watching them reminds me of things I forget and that in its intensity and exuberance– childhood is its own kind of spellbound.
Though longing for a pet to call her own, Ece will settle for a stuffed animal. She has a collection, even when traveling.
